He passed to his eternal resting place on April 28, 2024, in Greeley surrounded by family. Gordon fought many years of medical issues. He faced the 2nd cancer diagnoses the last four months with a smile and a wink. He was kind, trustworthy, and generous all the way to the end of his physical existence.
As a child Gordon was born in Durhum Kansas. Raised in a Mennonite community in Kansas with his father Harvey Jantz, Mother Madeline (Schmidt) Jantz. He was the middle child with two older siblings, Janice Ralston (Mark) Oregon, Stan (Mary) Jantz Greeley. His two younger siblings Vince Jantz (Julie) Kansas, Janelle Unruh (John) Kansas. Gordon loved all his nephews and nieces.
Growing up on a dairy farm in Kansas Gordon found joy outside. Moving to Colorado he found a family of friends that he would spend time with. Loving his friends is just like family. He enjoyed listening to everyone socializing, music was pure enjoyment, from concerts in the park to friends jamming. Walking up to his job sites you heard music. Between music he would listen to the Fan and news nations. He would not miss a Bronco game no matter the season. He enjoyed watching the Nuggets, Avalanche, Rockies, Eagles. He was a fan of sports. He could watch a good western any day.
In 1974 Gordon Fell in love with the Rocky Mountains, leading him to live in Greeley Colorado. In Greeley he found the love of his life. Meeting a spirited woman from Saginaw Michigan. Gordon and Maureen celebrated 45 years of marriage last September 9, 2023. Their love and devotion created an amazing family. Sara Karnitz (Alan) Greeley, Sam Jantz (Lindsay)Greeley, Isabel Patrick (Luke) Greeley.
Living and serving Colorado he worked with construction companies, where he learned many trades. He was a master in his profession. He opened Choice Builders 30 years ago. He ran a successful business collaborating with countless people making their building dreams come true in northern Colorado. Gordon retired in January of 2024 leaving the company to his beloved and passionate son Sam Jantz, where he proudly continues to be the master of trade that Gordon taught him to be.
Gordons Greatest pride and heartfelt love was for his Grandchildren. Faith (15) Aidan (13), Madeline (8), Harvey (7), Evelyn (5), Abigail (3). He was blessed to have them all live in Greeley where he spent hours rocking, playing, showing the kids how to keep their parents in line. His Joyous days were Sunday dinners at Papa and Nana’s house, with his whole family.
Gordon was a kind, trustworthy, generous Human. He always had a smile and a quick one liner. He could predict the weather and make a delicious kraut burger. He will be in our hearts forever and chances are you are living/dining/shopping/in a property he masterfully remodeled. He was a quiet man but had a huge presence. Please come remember him and celebrate his life. In lieu of Flowers donate to your charity.
A Funeral Service for Gordon will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fiesta Mansion Event Center (Masonic Temple), 829 10th Ave, Greeley Colorado.
