Emerson was the third of six children, with older siblings Carl and Albert, and younger siblings Marvin, Jane, and Marylin. His passions in life revolved around his faith in God and his love for his family. Emerson enjoyed activities such as golf, carpentry, travel, socializing with others, and collecting various items.
He gained valuable experience in the construction industry while working alongside his father, eventually leading him to relocate to Miami, Florida. It was there that he met Genevieve Mae Loftus, whom he married on February 10, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio. Emerson also served in the Thirty-Seventh Infantry Division at Camp Polk, Louisiana before settling in California with Genevieve.
Throughout their 54 years of marriage, Emerson and Genevieve traveled extensively and nurtured their love in their Covina home, surrounded by their church community and close friends. Together, they raised four children: Debbie A. Lux, Randy W. Lutes, Robyn J. Esquivel Wages, and Judith A. Butterworth. Their family expanded to include 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Following Genevieve's passing in 2004, Emerson embarked on adventures with lifelong friend and companion Wilna Heeks. In 2018, they relocated to Washington where they were cared for by Wilna's family. During his time with the Heeks and Velling family, Emerson forged deep bonds with new friends who became like family to him.
As their health declined, Emerson and Wilna had to make the difficult decision to separate for better care. Emerson moved to Hesperia, California, to live with his youngest daughter and son-in-law, re-establishing his residency in the state.
On April 26, 2024, Emerson suffered an Ischemic Stroke and peacefully passed away on May 2, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and prayers. His journey was one filled with love, faith, and cherished
