Born December 27, 1976, Passed April 28, 2024.
It is with a sad heart that we share the passing of Wendi. Wendi was a kind, friendly, compassionate, generous person who loved spending time with children and mentoring them in her own unique way. She was a good role model to numerous young people. From the time of teaching swim lessons at the Brea Plunge to teaching the finer points of how to be a teammate or describing how to maintain focus when hitting a particular pitch over at Lyons Field in Fullerton. Wendi always made life less boring and more interesting. Her infectious laugh, Wendi’s sweet smile and big warm hugs will be missed greatly.
At the age of twelve, Wendi realized that she not only liked to play softball, but that she was also particularly good at playing softball. In fact, Wendi was a talented athlete. She was a standout athlete at Garden Grove High School where she graduated in 1995. Her abilities allowed her the opportunity to travel all over the USA as well as internationally during her lifetime. She earned All American and MVP honors at various tournaments and won National Championships in several age groups with the Orange County Batbusters, Jazz and Diamonds travel ball teams. She earned a full 5-Year scholarship to Cal State University Fullerton. Wendi came to Cal State Fullerton with a list of accolades behind her. Including being touted as the most talented Argonanut softball player to come out of Garden Grove High School, she was named “Argo of the Year” in her senior year. In 1996, Wendi was a mainstay in the Titan outfield and batted in the third or fifth spot consistently throughout the season. Wendi had a successful off-season in 1997, with her team “The Diamonds” as they won the ASA National Championships, where she was named MVP.
Wendi was a beloved member of the Roland family for over 12 years. Her unwavering dedication and passion for customer service which were evident in every aspect of her life, she will be sorely missed. As a vital part of their Customer Service team, she was affectionately known as “Team Awesome.” Wendi’s infectious warmth and positive spirt were not just personal attributes, they were the essence of Roland’s company culture. She was recognized with an impressive 22 “Passion Sightings” from colleagues and dealers alike. As well she was honored with the title of “Star of the Month” an incredible nine times! Her involvement in the Safety Task Force and the Social Awareness Committee, where she made significant contributions, demonstrated her eagerness to contribute and make a difference.
Always one up for a fun time, Wendi loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews. Her unforgettable laugh and smile kept the kids laughing and entertained. Combined with her meeting and marrying the love of her life, John. John and Wendi would play off of each other and be the life of the party whenever or wherever they went. They both enjoyed sports, especially baseball/softball, they spent years as Angel season ticket holders and knew everyone that sat in “their” section as well as all of the ushers and ticket takers. Of course, there were multiply bowling leagues and teams along the way and who could forget the poker nights. I however, believe that her greatest joy was when Baylee started to play softball. It brought her immense joy to watch as Baylee and the other girls started to develop their skills and really enjoy the game. Wendi spent time educating, teaching, mentoring these girls wanting them to be the best that they could be.
As we bid farewell to Wendi, her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by those that knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, love, and a genuine care for others that will forever be cherished and dearly missed.
