Dorothy was born June 13, 1931 in Jasper, Indiana to Albert and Emma (Knies) Buehler. She married William Burger on August 12, 1952, and spend their early years in Ireland, Indiana managing a large farm of livestock and crops.
In 1971, the family moved to Frisco, Colorado and became entrepreneurs of a fast-food restaurant which they named Burger Haus. They later moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and became the owners of multiple dry cleaner and laundromat locations under the name of Country Clean Drycleaners and Laundromats. At the age of 83, Dorothy decided to retire from the family businesses.
She was a strong supporter of local sports and businesses. She was an avid fan of the Colorado State Rams football team and the Denver Broncos NFL team, She loved spending time and making memories with her children, 23 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Talented with her love for quilting and as such there are many examples on the beds across the US. She will be most remembered for her warm smile, quick wit, and her contagious laughter that filled the room.
Dorothy is survived by one brother, Ken Buehler (Eilene), Dacula, Georgia, and nine children; Jane Johnson (John), Leaburg, Oregon; Anne Rawe, Tillamook, Oregon; Donna Burger, Fort Collins, Colorado; Marilyn Burger, Clay Center, Kansas; Phyllis Bachus (Kent), Salt Lake City, Utah; Jacque Larsen (Richard), Shakopee, Minnesota; Lisa Frank (Mark), Castle Pines, Colorado; Thomas Burger, Fort Collins, Colorado and Glenn Burger, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Proceeding her in death was her husband of 46 years of marriage, William Burger (1998), and three sons, Scott (1967), John (2001) and Joe (2017).
A visitation and celebration of her life will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service, Drake Chapel, 650 W. Drake Rd., Fort Collins, Colorado on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 PM. All are welcome.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish, 5450 S. Lemay Ave., Fort Collins, Colorado, followed by a reception.
Interment will follow the reception at Roselawn Cemetery, 2718 E. Mulberry St., Fort Collins, Colorado beginning at 10:00 AM.
