Ronald Lynn Giles, 81, passed away May 2, 2024, in McKinney, Texas with his loving wife by his side. Ron was born April 7, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to Charlie Sherman Giles and Frances Lorene Giles. Together they had two sons, Kenneth and Ronald and sadly their mother passed away when they were very young. Charlie Giles later married Virginia Giles, bringing their two families together. They lived in Dallas where Ron attended school and graduated from Sunset High School.
Ron attended Trinity College in Houston, Texas. He then began his career as an Air Traffic Controller. For over 20 years he worked at DFW International Airport, where his career was marked with dedication and excellence.
Before his retirement in 2007, Ron worked at CompuCom as the Director of Facilities and also at Affiliated Computer Services as the Director of Facilities / Project Manager in Dallas, Texas.
Ron was an outdoor enthusiast and was passionate about his love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed spending time on his sail boat, traveling in his RV, hunting at the deer lease, bird hunting, fishing local lakes and the streams of Colorado. He also enjoyed taking his two sons to Colorado where he shared his love of the great outdoors with them.
Ron was an avid skier. Well into his mid-seventies, you would find him on the ski slopes of Winter Park once or twice a week, during each ski season.
In 2004, Ron met his future wife, Connie Ferguson. They were united in marriage at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on September 27, 2008 in Fort Collins, Co.
For the next 15 years, Ron and Connie shared their love for each other, the Majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains and fulfilled their dream of living in Colorado. Together they enjoyed traveling, camping in the mountains in their RV, hiking and exploring numerous trails and spending time with special friends.
Forever the kind and loving gentleman you were, may you rest in peace, knowing you were loved, will never be forgotten and forever missed.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Frances Giles, step-mother, Virginia Giles, and brother, Kenneth Giles.
He is survived by the love of his life, Connie Giles, his two sons, Christopher Giles and Joshua Giles; step-brother, Curtis (Gwen) Elkins; step-sisters, Sue (Barry) Loven, and Anne Grabbs; step-daughters, Stacy (Jeff) Shelton, Heather (James) Pipkin; step-grandchildren, Jessica Shelton, Jenna Shelton, Ashton Shelton, Riley Pipkin, Emerson Pipkin, and Ainsley Pipkin; and many nieces and nephews.
