Cindy (Buckley) Griffo, age 61, of Franklin, Ohio went home to Heaven on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Complications from extensive open heart surgery, required to treat life-long side effects of cancer treatments she had as an infant, caused her death. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 7, 1962, a daughter of Paul and Lois (Cox) Buckley. Cindy was preceded in death by her dad and mom, brother-in-law Duane True, and nephew Tyler Calvert.
Cindy is survived by her husband, John; three children: Michael Griffo (Halley), Desi Vraniak (Landyn), and Jacob Griffo; three older sisters: Jane True, Peggy Swanson (Maury), Sheri Calvert (Steve); and sister-in-law Charlene Leistman (Paul). She is also survived by three grandchildren: Romie and Shiloh Griffo, and Jovie Vraniak; eight nieces and nephews: Matthew Collins (Kerry), Jennifer Barcalow (David), Paul True, Sheri True, Ben Calvert (Anna), Samantha Heacock (Kevin), Drew Calvert (Bryanna), Rebecca Witt (Shea); and ten great nieces and nephews: Violet Barcalow, Ethan Wilson, Hunter Collins, Hayden Barcalow, Max Wilson, Charlotte Collins, Logan Barcalow, Eliza Calvert, Vivian Witt, Ezra Calvert.
Cindy was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. She had a 25-year children's ministry at the Franklin First Church of God and attended Breiel Blvd Church of God in Middletown for the past 12 years. She worked for many years as a dental assistant and a training coordinator at EDS before becoming a full time mom. Her primary passion in life was her family and friends. She really enjoyed music, was competitive at board games, and liked planting flowers because she was so amazed at their beauty. She also enjoyed going out for a good steak dinner, watching movies, and celebrating Christmas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Breiel Blvd Church of God, 2000 N. Breiel Blvd, Middletown, OH. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Breiel Blvd Church of God. Interment at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, 1639 E Lytle 5 Points Rd, Centerville, OH, following the Celebration Service.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
