Fred was a member of the Army National Guard and was a tank commander. He worked for A. Brandt Furniture Company for many years. He then went to work for Robert Shaw Furniture from 1959 – 1979 when he decided to open his own business, International Library Furniture. Fred was working his own business up until 4 years ago and then he just came in part time. He was a Hard Worker, a great Provider, a True Gentleman, and a fine outstanding man, who was loved and admired by family and friends.
Fred loved fishing on Lake Granbury with grandson, Little Fred, and with many friends on the lake. His early hobby was bowling on the Sons of Herman League. He also loved his deep sea fishing trips to Port Aransas. He was always smiling no matter the circumstances. Fred was a loving husband to his wife, Gertrude (Skeeter) for 69 years and a caring father to his only child, daughter, Deborah Ann Winkleman.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Winkleman; his wife of 69 years Skeeter Winkleman; daughter Deborah Ann Winkleman; and brother Norman (Cotton) Winkleman.
Fred is survived by two sisters Virginia Crawford and Chris Lands; his grandson Fred Whitley (Paula); his great grandchildren Micah Clanton (Kelci) of Grand Prairie, Jason Clanton of Grand Prairie, Mason Whitley of Alice, Texas, and Bradley Whitley of Fort Worth, Texas; 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
