Blant Foster, Sr. was born on November 24, 1948 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Rosa Lee Foster and James Foster, Sr. The third child of a family of five children (Ida, Jimmy Willie and Mabel), he loved dogs and named every dog that he owned "Bullet". Whether playing baseball or the trumpet, he performed well. Throughout his high school years, Blant remained on the A/B honor roll until he graduated from Druid High School in Tuscaloosa with honors.
After graduation in 1968, Blant enlisted in the Army and married Ernestine Crawford. To this union, two beautiful children were born; Fontella Foster Sanchez and Blant Foster, Jr.
He served in the Army from June 6, 1968 until he retired on June 6, 1989. Prior to Blant's retirement from the Army he served as Supply Sergeant E-7 and Staff Sergeant 1st Class. Under his leadership, hundreds of young men grew to be leaders and great men. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and spending time with his family.
As an adult, Blant accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Beth-Eden Missionary Baptist Church under the late Dr. B.R. Daniels, Sr. A dad, granddad, great granddad, brother and uncle, Blant affectionately called "Sergeant and Papa", was called home on Friday, April 27, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Foster, his father, James Foster, Sr., sister, Ida Foster Lindsey, and brothers, Willie Foster, and Jimmy Foster.
Those left to cherish his memory are; daughter, Fontella Sanchez (Victor), son, Blant Foster Jr. (Kisha), three grandchildren, Durrand Katrell Roberts, Dessirae Nicole Clayton and Blant Foster III; three great grandchildren, Hayden Cook, Durrand Duane Roberts, and Serenity Nicole Shofner, sister, Mabel Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
