In loving memory of Sylvia Margaret Rollins, a cherished wife, mother, and daughter, we celebrate her journey of 88 years. Sylvia Rollins of Fort Smith, Arkansas, embarked on her heavenly ascent on Friday, May 3, 2024, encircled by her loving and devoted family.
Born in Altus, Arkansas, on September 1, 1935, Sylvia was the embodiment of grace and resilience, traits inherited from her late parents, Edward and Margaret Rofkahr.
Her life blossomed on February 26, 1955, when she married her soulmate, William Riley Rollins, and together they shared a life filled with joy and companionship. Sylvia was a dedicated military spouse, loving mother, and joyful homemaker. Her selfless spirit found expression in her commitment to the Red Cross, where she volunteered, and among her many passions, interior decorating stood out - a testament to her eye for beauty which she passed down to her children.
Sylvia’s legacy flourishes through her surviving spouse, William Rollins of Fort Smith, her children, Deborah Rollins of Fort Smith, Cynthia and spouse Randall George of Fort Smith, Cheryl and spouse Larry Davis of Fort Smith, Douglas Rollins and spouse Lorinda of Cedarville, Karen Przybysz of Fort Smith, and David Rollins of Fort Smith. Sylvia was blessed with 16 grandchildren whom are guided by her wisdom and strength; Kara Spittles, John Hunt, Jimmy Hunt, Daniel Rollins, Dawna Dunn, Abigayle Rollins, Matthew Przybysz, Hayden Przybysz, Amanda Money, Katie Cook, David Michael Rollins, Amber Suter, Toshi Davis-Dale, Shane Davis, Lance Davis, and Vernonia (Renee) Sauls-Page. She is also survived by sister Marilyn Zeiler of Conway, numerous great-grandchildren, and good friend Kathryn Marquez.
Though preceded in death by her daughter Beverly and spouse Jim Carpenter of Calhoun, Georgia, daughter-in-law Cathryn Rollins of Fort Smith, son-in-law John Przybysz of Fort Smith, and grandson Christopher George of Fort Smith, her influence remains in the hearts of those she touched. Sylvia is also preceded in death by her brother Jerome Rofkahr of Kansas, sister Charlotte Opper of California, sister Irene Intres of Arkansas, and brother Matthew Rofkahr of Kansas.
Pallbearers will be John Hunt, Shane and Lance Davis, Daniel Rollins, and Matthew and Hayden Przybysz.
The visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on Wednesday, May 8th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Being of the Catholic faith, Sylvia’s life will be honored in a Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Altus, Arkansas on Thursday, May 9th at 10:00 a.m. The burial service will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery on Friday, May 10th at 1:00 p.m.
