George O. Lowrimore, 84, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 26, 2024 at Joanne’s House Hope Hospice. He was born on August 9, 1939, in Calvin, Kentucky.
George served his country in the US Army faithfully and honorably from 1957 to 1964, receiving citations for Marksman and Sharpshooter accomplishments. Following his discharge, George dedicated 30 years of his career to Ford Motor Company at the Woodhaven Stamping Plant as an Industrial Lift Truck Operator.
In his free time, George enjoyed training and racing Standardbred Horses, collecting Western Memorabilia, golfing, traveling, photography, and spending quality time with his family and close friends in SW Florida. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Marcella Talley, daughter Lori (Robert) Huntoon, grandchildren Kelsey (Brian) Chamberlin and Matthew Huntoon. George was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Lillian, wife Betty, and brothers Otis and Bob.
Educated in Detroit Public School, Huron High School, and Henry Ford Community College, George had a passion for learning throughout his life.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, located at 9231 Cypress Lake Dr. Fort Myers, FL 33919.
A burial service will be held this fall at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.org to honor George’s memory and support a cause close to his heart.
