Jovita Salazar, a beloved soul with a heart of gold and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully with family at her side, on April 28, 2024, at the age of 80 in Hebbronville, Texas. Jovita was born on February 15, 1944, in Hebbronville, Texas, to her loving parents Donato and Rafaela Salazar. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
In her early years, Jovita found joy in education as a teachers-aid before transitioning to become a Certified Nurses Aid at a Nursing Home in Tyler, TX. Her nurturing nature and dedication to caring for others excelled in this role. When health concerns prevented her from continuing her profession, she returned to her roots and embraced the role of a dedicated homemaker for her family.
Jovita's warm and inviting personality touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known for her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering faith. Her family was at the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
Beyond her caregiving responsibilities, Jovita had a passion for travel and fashion. She could often be seen elegantly dressed in matching attire and high heels, with her signature red lipstick adding a touch of glamour. Her flair for style made her truly stand out as a fashionista among her loved ones.
Jovita Salazar leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joyous memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the lives of many with her kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Xavier Alexander Garcia; parents, Donato and Rafaela Salazar; brother, Francisco Salazar; and sister, Blanca Margarita Ramos.
Among those left to cherish Jovita’s memory are her children, Oscar (Cindy) Perez, Melva Perez, and Marisa (Ignacio Serna) Perez; sisters, Maria Del Rosario “Rosie” Gonzalez and Nelda Salazar; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams ; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A rite of committal and interment will follow at New Hebbronville Cemetery.
Honoring Jovita as Pallbearers are Andres Gonzalez, Jr., Aaron Salazar, Nickalis Reyna, Jeremiah Perez, Eduardo Rodriguez, Jr., and Marco Antonio Gonzalez.
