Frank J. Rezendes, 91, of Fairhaven passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 in Our Lady’s Haven after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mildred “Millie” (Benoit) Rezendes with whom he shared nearly 67 years of marriage.
Born in Falmouth, a son of the late Frank M. Rezendes and Louise (Leblanc) Cook he lived most of his life in Fairhaven. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven.
He was a 1951 graduate of Lawrence High School in Falmouth, MA & a 1954 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, earning a B.A. in Marine Engineering, a 1961 graduate from UMass, Dartmouth with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering and also, in 1980 earned his Master in Business Administration at UMass Dartmouth.
Frank joined the Merchant Marine prior to serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserves. Frank was a Senior executive at Stone & Webster in Boston before retiring.
Mr. Rezendes was active in the Town of Fairhaven. He was a member of the Historical Committee, Beautification Committee, Fire Dept Committee, BPW, a town meeting member and lastly served on the Fairhaven Port Council Steamship Authority.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Ann Rezendes and her husband Randall Fleurent, Kathleen Pendergast and Nancy Rezendes all of Fairhaven, Michael F. Rezendes and his wife Cheryl of Harrington Park, NJ; four grandchildren, Andrew Fleurent, Matthew Pendergast, Michael Rezendes Jr, and Christopher Rezendes; siblings, Michael Cook and Dianna Young; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joan Zbikowski, Dorothy Ethridge, and Marilyn Barker.
His funeral will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven.
