Royal May Wortman
October 13, 1933 – April 22, 2024

It is with heavy hearts the children announce the passing of their beautiful mother, Royal May (Criswell) Wortman, who passed away on the evening of April 22, 2024. She was born in Evansville IN on October 13, 1933 to the late Roy and Laura (Clariage) Criswell.
Preceding her in death were her sister and brother-n-law; Virginia (Jim) Dixon, sister and brother-n-law Dorothy (Bill) Sander, and brother and sister-n-law Donald (Judy) Criswell. Also preceding her in death were her in-laws, Wilbert and Helen (Campbell) Wortman, brother and sister-n-law W. Curtis (Norma) Wortman, and her sister-n-law, Joie Criswell Whitmer.
Royal graduated from Reitz High School in 1951 where she met the love of her life, Donald “Duck” Wortman, who preceded her in death on October 18, 2018. They were married in Evansville, IN on April 12, 1952. After retirement, they moved to Naples, FL in 2003 where they enjoyed the sunshine, golf and close friends.
Royal is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Jim) Adams of Naples, FL, Patricia (Kent) Day of Plainfield, IN and a son and daughter-n-law, Chris (Mary Jo) Wortman of Bradenton, FL. She had four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Alexander North Chapel on Sunday, May 5th from 4-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6th at Salem Church of Darmstadt beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Salem Church Cemetery following the service.
