Marlene Jane Penrod, 90, of Englewood Florida, formerly of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024. The daughter of Richard and Mildred Tredennick, Marlene was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on 4/18/34, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday in Englewood Hospital. She attended Ferndale High School, where she was valedictorian of her graduating class. She was in the Ferndale marching band and orchestra. She pursued a Medical and Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Physical Therapist degree from D. T. Watson . She worked at the Veteran's Hospitals in Pittsburgh and Dearborn, Michigan, before becoming a full time mother and household manager.
She married Donald E. Penrod in 1957, and they have been married for 67 years. She and her husband moved to Cape Haze Florida in 1996. She traveled extensively, was a photographer, golfer (member of Rotonda Golf and Country Club where she had a Hole-in-One) and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Rotunda until medical problems made that and other items impossible. Later in her life, she became an avid football fan, following the University of Michigan religiously. She adored her granddaughter, and all you had to do was mention her name and Marlene would smile from ear to ear. She also had a love for animals, particularly cats.
Marlene leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Donald, her son Scott (Cindy) and Granddaughter Reagan of Bloomfield Twp., MI. She was preceded in death by her parents (Richard and Mildred Tredennick) of Johnstown, PA and numerous other relatives from the same area.
Viewing will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 551 Rotonda Blvd. West, Rotonda West FL from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on May 9, 2024 followed by a service at the church beginning at 11:30.
