It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Henry William Karcher, Jr. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Henry was born on April 10, 1964 to Henry Sr and Kathleen Karcher. Henry was raised in Southwest Baltimore, where he would meet his wife, Colleen, growing up only one block apart. Henry and Colleen met as children, married, and later moved to Arbutus where they raised their family.
Henry was a proud graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School Class of 1982 in Baltimore, Maryland. His commitment to service led him to join the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987, where he served with honor and dedication. After the Navy, Henry found his niche as a logistics manager who took great pride in his work. He worked diligently for Holt Paper for 13 years and eventually moved to support IT contracts, demonstrating dedication and commitment that inspired those around him. His love for his work was evident to all who knew him. Henry decided to continue his education after his children were grown and received an Associate Degree in Business, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Henry was passionate about coaching and community involvement. He was a lifetime coach and active member of Arbutus Little League Baseball and Arbutus Golden Eagle Football, where he touched the lives of countless young athletes with his passion for the game and mentorship.
In his leisure time, Henry enjoyed friendly competition, particularly through his love for playing cards and poker. He cherished these moments of camaraderie and the opportunity to engage in spirited competition. Henry was also a devoted sports fan, holding a special place in his heart for the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, and Maryland Terrapins basketball. He especially loved football, the NFL, and was a long-time season ticket holder for the Baltimore Ravens.
Above all, Henry will be remembered for his selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond for others.
