James Brian Dlugos, 79, of Powell, Ohio, and Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on May 2, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 14, 1944, to the late John J. Dlugos and Dolores (Litz) Dlugos Lewendowski. Additionally, he was preceded in death by brother Dennis Dlugos in 1954, sister Lynette Monteleone in 2011, sister Debra L. Dlugos in 2022, and nephew Joseph M. Oswald in 2019.
He is survived by loving wife of 45 years Pamela Joy (Koehler) Dlugos, brother John Dlugos (Martha) of Phoenix, Arizona, sister Patricia Dlugos Williams of Lorain, Ohio, 10 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Lorain High School and attended Kent State University. He was a founder and co-owner ComTech Systems, Inc., a computer software and information technology-systems development firm. Jim provided great leadership and helped build ComTech into a very successful company before it was sold to an international organization headquartered in The Netherlands. Thereafter, Jim worked as an independent business consultant. His unyielding attention to detail in both his professional life and personal life was remarkable.
Jim was a great friend to many and a terrific host to family and friends over the years at his Memorial Golf Tournament parties, Christmas dinner parties, pool parties, and family gatherings. Jim was the perfect HOST. In addition to entertaining family and friends, Jim loved animals and was an ongoing supporter of numerous animal and wildlife organizations. He also enjoyed golf and loved to travel. He and Pam visited many beautiful places with many beautiful people over the years.
Jim was a Christian who held a true belief in Jesus Christ as Son of the Father. His faith deepened continually throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canine Companions or Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Visitation for Jim will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017, where his funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. A reception will be held following the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
