On April 28, 2024, Manuel Contreras entered eternal rest in Dallas, TX. He was born on July 9, 1930 in Marquez, Tx to Felix and Petra Contreras. Manuel was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. He served in the Army and Air National Guard (Air Force). He is a Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) and most notably served and fought during the Korean Conflict. A devout member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 453. A graduate from Crozier Tech and attended night school at Mt. View College. He loved collecting marbles, coins, cars, and anything antique. His hobbies were garage sale hunting, Flea Markets, and selling produce on the weekends. Manuel was an outgoing, loving, husband, father and grandpa. One of his most recent memories was when his siblings' families would get together at Kiest Park for the Easter Holidays. He really enjoyed the times when family spent time together. He has celebrated many birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, births, and special events with family and friends. There have been a lifetime of great memories. He held onto life with bravery and was a hero to many. He will be greatly missed. Manuel is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; parents and brothers, Victor, Pete, Joe, Lupe and Lorenzo. He is survived by his son, Robert; daughters, Terri Contreras and Gigi Otero; sister, Hortensia Tovar; grandchildren, Stephen, Ginger, Tallen, Alicia, Britney, Symphony, Tori, Adam and Orion; 18 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and his sweetheart, Tina Melgoza.
