Richard was born in Napoleon, Ohio on June 30, 1945. Richard then grew up in Robstown, Texas. He had many special friends in his life and in his later years until his passing. His family will hold memories of his friends praying for and visiting him close to their hearts.
Richard lived a life always trying to do what made him happy. His family says Richard “lived his life the way he wanted to live”. He encouraged his children and family to “always be yourself”.
His life partner and best friend, Irma Salazar Diaz, has loving memories of when they would dance the night away. Richard loved dancing to Spanish music and watching old western shows with Irma. Irma describes Richard as a man who had a wonderful sense of humor, great dancer, sharp dresser, and an irreplaceable friend in her life. Irma will always smile with thoughts of Richard.
Richard was an old school gentleman with his hair perfectly combed and cut, clothing pressed and well taken care of and stylish. His family describes him as crafty, creative, loved antiques, arts and crafts, and enjoyed puzzles. Richard had a passion for politics and felt it was important to be knowledgeable about what was going on in society and around the world. He would try to keep his family up to date on the things he learned from the news and reading.
Richard loved sports and especially “America’s team”, the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed following and watching San Antonio Spurs basketball and the University of Texas football games.
