Mary Ann was born to the late Thelma and D.B. Geiger in Columbus, Georgia. Mary Ann was a devoted wife to her late husband of 48 years, Wilburn Jackson Hewitt.
She worked in medical records for St. Francis and then for Dr. Patton, with whom she retired. She graduated from Jordan High School, Class of 1959. She loved the Lord and served him through teaching Sunday School, helping with youth groups and being very active in church. She was the youngest charter member at Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. She loved going to the beach, going on cruises, spending time with her family, and if you really knew her… you know she loved to cook! She loved her family and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her three children, Reverend Ben Hewitt (Wanda), Laurie Hewitt Merrill (Dennis), Adam Hewitt; three sisters, Rita Mead (Gil), Donna Pearce (Maurice), and Helen Wills (Phillip); a brother-in-law, Sam Hewitt (Diane); three grandchildren, Hannah Nahley (Nathan), Leah Potter (Blake) and Shayla Risher (Michael); seven great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special family, Marty, Cindy, Garrett & Wil Tumblin of Chickamauga, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held for Ms. Hewitt at Hilton Terrace Baptist Church on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm with a reception immediately following, at the church.
