Bedri Scott Dunaway, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 59. He was a correctional officer employed with the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility. Bedri was extremely high tech and loved all of the latest technological advances. He was witty, funny, and had a great sense of humor. He had respect for everyone and treated everybody equally. Though he loved his friends and co-workers, Bedri’s greatest love was for his family. He loved to travel, but mostly loved being at home with his family. Bedri had a grateful heart and was always thankful for anything done for him. He will be remembered for his intellect, his strength, and his never give up attitude.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Hollis Dunaway; a grandmother, Tomie Lee Dunaway; his father, Jerry Dunaway; and his mother, Janice Goleman. Bedri is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly Dunaway; two sons, Gabriel Roberts and Ty Dunaway; a half-brother, Russell Stringer; his mother-in-law, Peggy Stringer; a brother-in-law, Ramsey Roberts (Kacey); two nieces, Jolie Roberts and Ava Roberts; a nephew, Caedmon Roberts; and his two faithful dogs, Troy and Jax.
There will be a visitation for Bedri at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Randy Davis, will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00pm. He will be laid to rest in the Buck Stringer Family Cemetery assisted by officers of the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility serving as pallbearers.
