Diane L. Sass, 74, of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024. Born in New Haven, CT, on September 30, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Swirsky and Judith A. (Haefey) Swirsky. Diane graduated from West Haven High School, West Haven, CT in 1967. She went on to attend classes at Southern Connecticut State University as an art major.
Diane spent many years raising her two children, embracing her artistic abilities which included quilting and painting. She advocated and assisted for the welfare of animals.
From there she worked as an office manager at Gynecology and Infertility for many years before her retirement in 2016.
Above all else, Diane found her joy in spending time with her friends and family, creating many meaningful memories with all those she held closest in her heart. She loved being a Nonny to her granddaughters, Abby and Molly. Her lipstick and sunglasses were always a must even when sitting on her deck with a Pinot Grigio in hand.
Diane will be greatly missed by her children, Betsy Kelley of Clinton, CT and Peter Kelley of Guilford, CT. Diane is also survived by her sisters Kim Conway and Susan B. Swirsky. Her niece Lindsay Gravens and her granddaughters Abby and Molly.
Diane's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to her dear friend Carole and each and every one at Ocean Meadows of Clinton for their care, love and support.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 4pm until 5:30pm with a service to follow at 5:30pm at Swan Funeral Home, located at 80 E. Main St, Clinton, CT.
In lieu of flowers, Diane’s family asks that donations be made to Valley Shore Animal Welfare League in Westbrook, CT or Halfway Home Animal Rescue in North Haven, CT.
A gathering of family and friends will be celebrated at a later date.
