He is preceded in death by his parents Earl R. Ernsberger and Virginia Cate Ernsberger along with brother's Robert and Daniel Ernsberger.
George served in the US Army and was an avid lover of the outdoors. He loved racing cars at Shuffletown Dragway. George was the owner and operator of the Dairy Queen/Dairy Barn on Hwy 16 in the ‘70s. He spent over 40 years in the transportation industry, mostly with East Coast Trailer in Charlotte where he retired in 2016.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years Vickie Kay Ernsberger; son George Allen Ernsberger Jr. and wife Vickie, son Rodney Ernsberger and wife Lundee, daughter Michelle Phelps and husband Scott, son Kristopher Ernsberger and wife Elaina; granddaughter Jessie Lafler and husband Nickolas, grandson Aaron Ernsberger and wife Maurica, granddaughter Jordan Ernsberger, grandson Justin Ernsberger, granddaughter Sammy Cate Ernsberger, grandson Dalton Smith, granddaughter Addison Smith, grandson Noah Ernsberger; great grandson Austin Ernsberger; brothers Mark Ernsberger and wife Mary, Doug Ernsberger and wife Mary and Duke Ernsberger along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery located at 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte on Tuesday May 7th 2024 at 2 o'clock pm.
