Doris Warren, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 1, surrounded by loved ones in Carriere, MS. She was the beloved wife of the late James Howard Warren Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Dollye Williamson, brothers Morris and Tommy Williamson, children James II and Melissa Warren Bauer, and great-grandchild Maggie Rose.
Doris is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Terry Johnson (Kirk), four grandchildren James III (Angela W.), Kristal Robertson (Kerry), Thomas Mackles, and Angela Childress (Patrick), six great-grandchildren Carson, Connor, Bella Rose, Olivia, Vivian, and Addison, and sister-in-law Glenda Williamson.
Doris was born in Philadelphia, MS, and moved to Jackson, MS after high school where she met the love of her life, James. James and Doris were married in 1954 and made their home in Chalmette, LA, for forty years. They were members of the United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in the Ladies Club. Doris retired in 2001 from Universal Furniture Store as a bookkeeper in the accounts payable/receivable department. She moved to Slidell, LA, in 2005 after her home was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. While living in Slidell, she enjoyed participating in her neighborhood Rosary Club and dining at all of the eateries around town with family and friends. Although she will be greatly missed by family and friends, we find comfort and joy knowing she made it home in time to celebrate Mother’s Day with her husband and children.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA, on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Serenity Pearl and Enhabit Hospice.
