Born in Halfday, Illinois, September 3, 1928 - Passed away April 27, 2024, in El Cajon, California after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She is preceded in death by Husband William Harry Myers. Also preceded in death by Parents David Evan Bennett and Eunice Margaret Bennett, Brother David Bennett Jr., and Sister Margaret Bennett of Ohio.
Survived by her Children Steven Richard Wright of Poway, Sharon Ann (Wright) Boyd of Alpine, Grand Children Robert A Boyd III of El Cajon, Serena Leeann (Boyd) Gandara of El Cajon, Step daughter Diane E Myers, Niece Nancy Pizzulo of Florida, Nephew John Biskupich of Florida, Son-in-Law Adolph Duffy Guerrero of Alpine, Daughter-in-Law Jill R Wright of Poway, Step Grandson Matthew Ramos of San Diego, Step Grandson Ryan Ramos of Los Angeles, Ryan Ramos’s Spouse Michelle Ramos of Los Angeles, Step Great Granddaughters Sailor Ramos of Los Angeles and Winslow Ramos of Los Angeles, Step Great Grandson Woods Ramos of Los Angeles, and Ex Son-in-Law Robert Boyd Jr. of El Cajon.
Ann’s father David Bennett was born in Wales, England and her mother Margaret Bennett was born in Wisconsin. They were dairy farmers in Wisconsin until their death.
Ann was one of the famous women called “Rosie the Riveter” back during World War II and helped in the building of airplanes for the war effort.
She worked at the California Department of Motor Vehicles in La Mesa and across San Diego County where she worked her way up to supervisor, then eventually became the Regional Manager for San Diego County which title she held until her retirement. She was also the first woman in San Diego to be a license examiner to give tests with the DMV.
Ann was one of the first women to join the Elks Lodge in El Cajon which she fought for and eventually recruited many more women to join. She loved the Elks Lodge and continued going there until she could no longer leave her memory care facility. She was lovingly called Annie by friends and all who knew her at the Elks Lodge.
She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
A service will be held at Glen Abbey Memorial Park Chapel of the Roses, May 31st, 2024, at 12:30 pm.
A funeral reception after the service will be held in the back patio at the Elks Lodge at 1400 E Washington St. in El Cajon at 2:30 pm.
