June Fitzpatrick (91) of Maplewood went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2024, following a long illness. She passed away peacefully at The Villages at Greystone where she had resided for a short time.
June was born in Meadow Bridge on September 21, 1932, to Levi Prince and Faye (Shuck) Fitzwater.
She graduated from Meadow Bridge High School and lived in Meadow Bridge until her marriage to Marvin “Doc” Fitzpatrick in 1951. June and Marvin were married for 72 years and resided in Maplewood for over 60 of those years until his death in December 2023. In addition to Marvin and her parents.
June was preceded in death by six brothers (Dallas, Calvin, Jessie, Evertte, Lonzo, and Roy) and one sister, (Kellie Crum).
She is survived by two sisters, Jenevie Bennett, and Merlene Bentert, three children (Dan (Coraetta), Rebecca, and Kathy), two grandchildren (Sarah and Eric), and two great-grandchildren (Corbet and Maverick), and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
June became a Christian at an early age. She loved the Church and made sure her kids made it to Sunday School, clean and looking sharp. She baked wonderful homemade bread and the “best rolls ever.” In addition to being a great cook, June was a fantastic artist and crafter. Her creative works included paintings, needle points, cross-stitching, crocheting, knitting, quilting, jewelry making, and sewing. She enjoyed gardening and especially spending time with her family.
June’s great mind and many talents were private, reserved for those closest to her. She preferred a simple life, being home, working in the garden, and singing old hymns while she worked. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her sweet, generous ways. She left behind a legacy of love as she crossed the river and entered her long hoped for heavenly home.
June was a cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
Graveside services will be held for June Fitzpatrick at 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia with Brother Dan Fitzpatrick officiating. Blue Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
