Linda Parks Bennett, 71, of Central, LA passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024. Linda, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, was born in Monahans, TX. She grew up in Livonia, LA, where she was a champion basketball player for Livonia High School. Linda retired from the State of Louisiana, where she was worked in disability determination and then as a fraud investigator. She is survived by her partner Gordon Castleberry, daughter Lindsay Bennett, grandchildren Austin and Morgan, brothers Billy Parks (Sandra), and Richard Parks (Judy), sister Robin Cashio (Neal), brother-in-law Charles Bennett Jr. (Dorothy), many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceded in death by her parents Earl and Anna Mae Parks, husband Daniel P. Bennett, and daughter Alicia Bennett.
With her kind and steadfast demeanor, Linda lived life fearlessly and independently, equal parts soft and strong. She loved fishing, bowling, and traveling with her husband of 33 years, Danny. Later, she enjoyed going to car shows and taking rides in her antique convertible Ford. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, a joy for life’s little pleasures, and a plucky boldness of self-determination. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends who loved her.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 2-3pm, with a memorial service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
