Dareen Elizabeth McCartney passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, she made her home in Baton Rouge, LA, for many years. Dareen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved family history, sewing, arts and crafts, reading, and gardening.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, James McCartney, who was her rock; three daughters, Christine McCartney, Julia Joffrion, and Amanda McCartney, who were her pride and joy; two sons, John McCartney and Adam McCartney, who were her strength; five granddaughters, Daphne Joffrion, Megan Joffrion, Alexis McCartney, Alasia Price and Allyson McCartney, who were her sunshine; four grandsons, D’Marcus McCartney, Austin Carewicz, Davin Hall and Aiden McCartney, who were her laughter; one great-grandson, Messiah McCartney, who brought smiles; nieces and nephew Angelique Temple, Tenille O’Keefe & Jason O’Keefe, who were her extended family; and many more loved nieces and nephews, who were her cherished connections.
Dareen is preceded in death by her two sisters, Diana Mesimer O’Keefe and Denise Mesimer, and her parents, William Joseph Mesimer and Florence Henrietta Reese Mesimer.
The family invites you to a visitation on Friday, May 10 from 5PM to 8PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government St, where you can share your memories of Dareen. The visitation will continue Saturday, May 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 9AM to 10AM, followed by a service at 10AM officiated by Bishop John Faust. We will then proceed to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial, where we will lay Dareen to rest.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Joffrion, John McCartney, Adam McCartney, Austin Carewicz, Davin Hall and Aiden McCartney. Honorary pallbearer will be Messiah McCartney.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
