IN THE CARE OF

Demaine Funeral Home

.Jeanetta Lucille Adams Harding passed away from dementia complications, at 97 years old at Arleigh Burke Pavilion Nursing Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Jeanetta, born in Roanoke, VA, was the youngest of the eight children of Ellis Edward Adams and Bessie Effie Abshire. Shortly after graduating from Jefferson High School, she moved to the Washington, DC area to live with her eldest sister, Nellie. Jeanetta became one of the earliest women U.S. Deputy Marshals. Among many notable assignments, she transported convicted spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg from DC to New York for trial and assisted at Jimmy Hoffa's trial. Jeanetta retired from the Marshals Service when she was 39 years old to assist her second husband and love of her life, Roy Harding, in his highly successful construction business and to be a stay-at-home mother. After Roy's passing, she found love again with William Badgley, to whom she was married for 18 years. Jeanetta was known by all as the most elegant of ladies, loved dressing up in bright colors and all things that sparkled. Her children called her "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." She had a passion for train travel and was very active in the Vienna Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was beyond generous to anyone of need who crossed her path. Jeanetta loved deeply and in turn was loved deeply by all who knew her. Jeanetta is survived by her 99-year-old sister Bessie Bell of Roanoke, VA. She is also survived by her two daughters, Pam (Larry) Kaus of NC, and Heidi (Darren) Guillot of VA, and her step-son Roy (Sandra) Harding of PA. Her grandchildren Brad (Sandra) Kaus of VA, Cassidy (Carter) White of VA, and Anderson (Sabrina) Dowling of NC, Roy (Yumi) Harding Ill of PA, and Denise (Shawn) Walleck of FL. Jeanetta was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren. We would like to thank the staff at Arleigh Burke Pavilion for the exceptional care they gave our beloved mother over the last 4 years. The family is following Jeanetta's wish of a private graveside service at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, Jeanetta requested donations to ADRA International- Adventist Development and Relief Agency at https://adra.org.
