History

Reigle Funeral Home was started in 1930 in Flint, Michigan, by John J. and Wanda Reigle. Wanda was among one of the first women funeral directors in the state of Michigan. See MoreSee Less

The original funeral home was established in a house on Saginaw Street. In 1950 the Reigle's picked up and moved the house forward to build Colonial Chapel behind it. It was the first structure in Flint built to be a funeral home. Funerals were still conducted during construction. See MoreSee Less

Family funeral home tradition

John’s son, James B. Reigle, entered the funeral home in the mid-1950s. In 1960 Sunset Chapel was constructed on Clio Road, followed by the Richfield Road location by the same name in 1970. See MoreSee Less

To better serve our community, Sunset Chapel on Clio Road moved to its current location on Pierson Road in Flushing in the 1990s. At the time, all of three Reigle grandsons, David, John and Jim, worked as funeral directors for the funeral home.
