With our spacious chapel, comforting visitation room and lovely hospitality room, we can handle services of all sizes and types. We also can provide professional catering at the funeral home, in our large family room or in the offsite location of your choice. To better serve the diverse Culpeper community, we have translators available for our Spanish-speaking families.

Active in the Culpeper community

At Clore-English Funeral home, we’re not only committed to serving the Culpeper community, we are also supporters of its civic organizations and events. Since 2003, we have been active participants in the Piedmont Area Soap Box Derby, which is the second largest derby in the world. Soap Box Derby racing instills core values such as leadership, family engagement, honesty, integrity, teamwork, entrepreneurship, volunteerism and commitment to community. We are also a corporate sponsor for the annual Christmas toy drive in Culpeper organized by Culpeper Toy Chest Inc. We have been a part of this important program since 1998. In 2017, more than 2,700 donated toys were collected and distributed to Culpeper families in need.

History

The story of Clore-English Funeral Home began when J. Carlton "Zeus" Clore moved from Madison, Virginia, and opened the funeral home in the 1940s in downtown Culpeper. After outgrowing the downtown location and merging with Geest Funeral Home, the 2 funeral homes combined names to become Clore-Geest Funeral Home in the mid-90s. In 1996, they built a state-of-the-art, modern facility at its current location on 29 South.

How the funeral home got its current name

Our name was changed in 1998 to Clore-English Funeral Home to recognize the retirement of the Geest family, to honor Mr. Clore’s name and to add the name of A. Wayne English, who had worked for and learned from Mr. Clore since 1974.
