Jewish traditions

In keeping with Jewish tradition, the K'vurah (burial) should be as expedient as possible. We are able to accommodate these immediate needs and are familiar with the religious customs that express the dignity and sanctity of a Jewish funeral. Taharah (ritual washing in our mikveh) is provided by the Greater Boston Chevra Kadisha (holy society). In addition, arrangements for a shomer (a watchman) are made at a family's request, and cotton or hand-sewn linen tachrichim (burial shroud) are available. A large selection of oron (caskets) are guaranteed free of metal and have been manufactured in a facility that does not operate on Shabbat. We also provide families with kriah ribbons, yahrzeit calendars, shiva benches and shiva candles.

For those unaffiliated with a synagogue, our funeral directors work closely with orthodox, conservative and reform rabbis from our community who conduct dignified chapel and graveside services that console the family and honor the deceased.
