Eddie McRay Cranford, age 76, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Eddie Cranford was born in Greensboro NC and grew up in Atlanta GA as the oldest of 8 children. He was a Boy Scout and later a member of his high school ROTC. In 1965 he graduated from Brown High School and later that year volunteered to join the United States Marine Corps. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Hall before being deployed to serve as a Sergeant working in aircraft supply in Vietnam. He was wounded in Vietnam and came home as a Purple Heart recipient in 1969. He worked for most of his career with NCR as a computer data center operator spending many years on the night shift. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and racing cars at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. After Eddie hung up his racing suit, he got into riding touring motorcycles. He continued to serve his community by joining the NE Cobb Jaycees where he participated and served as President. After retirement, Eddie began serving again by joining the Patriot Guard Riders and attending Gods Rolling Thunder Church. He was a member of the Marine Corps League of Woodstock, Detachment 1311 where he served as a Chaplain for one year and was a founding member of the rifle team. Eddie loved his family and spent his time serving alongside those that shared his heart for helping others. He is preceded in death by his father & mother, Thomas Eddie Cranford and Thelma Lee and four brothers Archie, Donnie, Tommy and Junior. Surviving is his loving wife Mary Anne Cranford and their beloved puppy, Zoey; His daughter Beth Stitt (Brett), Son David Cranford (Amanda Hess) and grandchildren Erin and Ethan Stitt. Eddie’s siblings, Richard Cranford, Kenny Cranford (Wanda), and Renee Allequin (Robert) also survive. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation for Eddie will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home, Inc., 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188. A committal service will occur Monday, May 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114.
