Our beloved mother and grandmother, Florentina Macatuno, has passed peacefully on May 13, 2024 at the age of 86. For the past three years, she had received care and comfort at home, lovingly provided by her family who was supported by a dedicated team from Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care with Sinai Health.
Florentina was the queen of our home and family. Together with our father and her devoted husband of 59 years, Elpidio Macatuno, they raised four children, Jocelyn (Darrin), Sr. Mary Grace, OSB, Ma. Concepcion, and Eric (Nancy). She was a doting grandmother to Roco Caxantino Corona, Enzo Nicholas Macatuno and Erica Niña Macatuno. Her meticulous care for the family was evident in the delicious Filipino dishes she cooked, her well-curated garden of flowers and plants, and the songs and games she played with her grandchildren like a true teacher.
Known for her generosity and taste for the finer things in life, she brought so much joy and inspiration to her family, friends, and community. Before influencers and BFFs came to be, our mother as the first schoolteacher in her family had influenced others to enter the teaching profession that she enjoyed as a vocation to share knowledge, build character, and improve lives. She treasured friendships lasting for decades because she truly was a best friend forever.
Florentina is reunited with her parents Andres and Brigida Sta. Ana, her brother Arturo Sta. Ana, Sr. and his wife, Aparacion Sta. Ana, and her best friends Lydia Dimaculangan and Lol Fernandez, who had gone before her.
