In loving memory of our dad, Demetrio (Jim) Ente Jr., who peacefully passed away May 15, 2024, Stockton, California. Jim was the devoted husband to his wife Phyllis C. Ente (passed away) who shared 73 beautiful years together and was a loving and dedicated father. He was from a family of five siblings and is survived by seven wonderful children: Michael (passed away) James, Patrick, Phillip, Douglas, Jackie (passed away), Jason and ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
During High School Jim also completed two years of auto mechanics. Upon high school graduation, Jim was drafted to serve his country with the United States Navy in 1946 and was stationed at Sub Base, Pearl Harbor, Navy 128. He held ratings of Sea/Shore duty, Food Service and Fireman Second Class and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1948 Jim returned to Stockton to work many general laborer jobs and briefly served with the National Guard until he finally worked his way from forklift driver to Supply Superintendent at the former Rough and Ready Island Naval Supply Depot here in Stockton until his retirement after 35 years General Schedule (GS) classifications. During his retirement years he was a pillar of his community as Regional Commandant of Karl Ross Post, as well as a member of the Honor Guard that performed internment memorials. Jim was an active and staunch advocate towards the historical preservation of Stockton’s Little Manila and secured improved benefits for Filipino’s who served during the 1940-1950s with the United States military.
A viewing will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel on Thursday May 30, 2024, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm followed by a Rosary at 5:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of the Annunciation on Friday May 31, 2024, 10:00am with a committal to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
